Heartbeat Monitor Application

The Heartbeat Monitor is a technical demonstration that detects and displays a user's heart rate and pulse waveform in real time. It uses the PulseSensor, which measures the capillary blood flow at the fingertip. The signal is processed by a microcontroller and sent to a Smart+ Display via the LumenProtocol communication protocol. The graphical interface shows both the BPM (beats per minute) and the heartbeat signal over time, providing a clear view of the cardiovascular rhythm. The user can also adjust the detection threshold directly from the touchscreen to fine-tune the sensitivity of the system.

Main Features

  • Real-time heart rate display (BPM)
  • Heartbeat waveform visualization
  • Threshold adjustment via graphical interface
  • Multilingual interface (English, Portuguese, Spanish)
  • Touchscreen interaction (no physical buttons)

How It Works

  1. Power the system by connecting a 12V power supply to the rear connector.
  2. Connect the PulseSensor using the XLR port on the right side of the case.
  3. Place the fingertip in the sensor to begin reading.
  4. Use the touchscreen to monitor and adjust settings if needed.

Hardware

Purpose of the Demo

This project was designed for technical and exhibition purposes. It demonstrates how biometric data (such as heart rate) can be visualized on a smart display, with real-time signal updates and user-configurable parameters.
